I have been in law enforcement for just about 9 years, 2 years of which I was a patrol officer, and then for the last 2 and a half years, I have been a detective. If you are a new police officer and had a start like I did where no one really tells you what you need other than a weapon and handcuffs, I hope this site helps you!
When I first started, I was given a list and told, “This is what you need, and you have a week to get it.” I was barely 21 years old and had very little experience with any of this, luckily both of my parents were in law enforcement which helped, but as I have been seeing new officers coming in, as well as in the academy that I assist in teaching I learned that not everyone has a person that they can go to to get the help.
I have watched countless times new police officers go into a “cop shop” to get equipment, and the store sells them literally everything in the store, and 90% of it they will never use.
That brings me to why I started this blog. I am hoping to help both new officers and veteran officers find the gear they need and new gear that is more reliable and, to be honest, a lot more comfortable than the gear that has been around for 10 – 15 years.
Almost all, if not all, of these items are from Amazon; I do receive a percentage of commission from these sales when you click the product button. However, I personally own everything that I post on here, I do that for a few reasons, 1. I want to make sure that I am getting customers the best price and the best equipment, and 2. Where I work, the closest “cop shop” is about an hour and a half away, which makes Amazon my go-to for most of my equipment.
